The Corfu Butterfly Survey - the end of the third year (2023)

31/12/2023 Dr Dan Danahar

Congratulations to all, today is the final day of the third year of the Corfu Butterfly Survey. As you can see below, this year we have not only increased the number of records but more importantly, we have increased the number of butterflies recorded, with an increase of 23.3% on the number of butterflies we recorded last year.

Whilst we now have 193 registered recorders there are some individuals who truly deserve to be singled out for their notable contributions. These include: Jane Barry and her incredible family (who have collectively recorded 2725 records), David and Lesley Shearan, Konstantinos Zagkas (and family), Anne Sordinas, Liz Hargreaves (and her family) Chris Little, George Kaloyiannis, Giannis Gasteratos and Tony Gould. All of these CBC members have made a phenomenal contribution to our collective work. For more information about our results and the others who have contributed, see: https://corfubutterflyconservation.org/stats_gen_overview...Of course we now have just two years left before the end of the Corfu Butterfly Survey and I am increasingly confident that we will very easily record 100,000 butterfly sightings and even surpass this number. So well done all and have a fantastic butterflying 2024!
