We are excited to announce the appointment of Anne Sordinas as the first-ever Educational Outreach Officer for Corfu Butterfly Conservation (CBC) working in collaboration with the Capodistrias Museum and supported by the Rothschild Foundation and the Ionian Environment Foundation.

The project officer will undertake scientific research, manage educational programs for children and local groups, and advise on habitat management for butterflies. Anne will be based at the Capodistrias Museum one day a week and in addition undertake educational activities for CBC two days a week.

Anne has undertaken voluntary work for Corfu Butterfly Conservation since 2017 and has been a committee member since the beginning of our evolution into a formal organisation. This year she became an administrator of our Facebook page and has translated our website into Greek.

Corfiot by birth Anne is passionate about helping to protect the island's environment, especially its butterflies. To achieve this, Anne will help educate the children of Corfu about the island's 76 species of butterflies, some of which are endangered. She will also encourage citizens to participate in the Corfu Butterfly Survey, advise on the conservation management of habitats for Corfu’s butterflies, represent CBC at meetings with local organisations as well as attend local events. Her passion for the butterflies of Corfu and its people is infectious.
